Aviation and Static Display Requests
Anyone can request a Kentucky National Guard Army or Air flyover for their particular event. CURRENTLY, THE US ARMY HAS EMBARGOED ALL ARMY and AIR AVIATION ASSETS FOR FLY OVERS. An Exception to Policy (ETP) must be requested through the Dept of Defense to facilitate such requests. Please contact the Public Affairs Office for specifics.
A public affairs flyover is a single straight and level flight by not more than four of the same type military aircraft from a single service over a predetermined point on the ground at a specific time and not involving aerobatics or demonstrations. The event must meet Dept. of Defense and appropriate service public affairs criteria and be approved by the Federal Aviation Administration prior to the aviation support occurring.
Requesting a flyover is essentially a two-step process. First, you must get approval from the National Guard Bureau (NGB) utilizing a DD Form 2535 to have the flyover. Second, you must request the flyover from the Kentucky National Guard Public Affairs Office ([email protected])
Once you receive approval, you can coordinate directly with either the Kentucky Army National Guard Flight Operations (502) 607-6006 or Kentucky Air National Guard Flight Operations (502) 413-4581. Flight Operations (Army or Air) cannot perform the flyover until NGB has approved the request. However, coordination can be done concurrently while the request is pending. Once your request is approved by NGB, you are “eligible” to have the military participate in your event, but it’s not guaranteed.

Once you have completed the DD2535 (including the FAA signing off on the event), you need to email the document to [email protected].
AVIATION STATIC DISPLAY REQUESTS
If you would like to request a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter or LUH-72 helicopter static display at your event, you must submit a DD Form 2535 (same form as above for a flyover) at least 30 days prior to the event.
Submit this request to[email protected].
This request must receive approval from the Office of the Chief of Public Affairs before it’s supported.
You must fully substantiate how your event and how the Kentucky National Guard would benefit from having a Helicopter Static display. (NOTE: you do not need FAA approval for an aviation static display…)
Whether it’s a band, color guard, guest speaker or military vehicle display, military personnel and vehicles always turn heads at parades, military appreciation days, and other ceremonies across the country. Citizens and community organizations can request a military band, color guard, exhibits or guest speakers to support their local event.
In order to request a static display, you must submit a DD form 2536 to the Kentucky National Guard Public Affairs Office ([email protected]). The Kentucky National Guard Public Affairs Office retains approval rights for all static displays. Your local National Guard recruiter can assist you with submitting the DD 2536 as well.
